Key bumping is becoming a harsh reality concerning the safety of our homes. Intruders can enter your home without any evidence of breaking in. Any many insurance companies are refusing to pay claims because of this lack of evidence! And, what's worse....anyone can learn how to do it on the internet.
What are bump keys? “Bump keys” are regular keys modified and filed down. It will then fit and open any lock that it can slide into. It works on just basic physics. It gets its name because you bump the key … then the door opens. It will pay to investigate lock bumping and bump keys....because it affects the safety of your whole family.
When a normal key is inserted in a lock, little pins are pushed up and out of the way, allowing a cylinder to spin, opening the lock. With a bump key, the pins are bumped out of the way for a split second, allowing the cylinder to spin.
