As an excited newcomer to the Nashville area, what is your single-most important question about living in Nashville?

Here's My Question...

From Medical Economics magazine....

"Level the playing field when you buy a home! You may get a better deal with your own broker pulling for you. The introduction of buyer's brokers takes a horribly one-sided process and simply makes it fair."

 Ideas for Home Paint Colors

Image depicting a color palette for home paint colors Express Yourself

Are you energetic and extroverted…
Love to entertain?
Are you more casual and relaxed…
Want a peaceful, quiet home?
Perhaps you’re eclectic with a wonderful sense of putting just the right things together?

Whatever your style – Home Paint Colors will define your personality!

You can find any number of books relating to the subject of color for your home. What is the latest trend? What do the colors mean? Or how about a color wheel showing what colors co-ordinate with another?

All of this is fine…but I find it very simple to look for colors that I love and use them in my surroundings. It’s true, they do need to coordinate and flow well together. But using the colors that make you feel good is so very important in your home décor.

Color combinations are all around us. Look at nature…or perhaps in your very own kitchen. The colors are extraordinary. Some are rich and vibrant. Some soothing and peaceful. But all are beautiful!

A few examples:

Example of the color green Photo showing how beautifully brown and blue compliment each other

Greens can be cool and calm….or dramatic. And what could be more beautiful than a rich, sensuous chocolate or coffee-bean brown with soft, soothing blues. Reds are also great for “spicing-up” browns. I just painted my living room a rich deep brown…..and used a hot-pepper spicy red in the adjoining kitchen. The combination is absolutely beautiful! I’m so happy with it.

Rich vibrant reds can energize your home like nothing else. Soft, citrus pastels are wonderful combinations to use.

How about these butterflies? Both are gorgeous. One is a rich chocolate brown and the other cool, calm soothing blues and greens. Which colors best suit your personality? Go for it…fill your home with the colors you love!

Let’s consider this room. The space and architecture are great…but it is bland and lifeless without color. Want to dress up a few rooms? Some of these rooms are dramatic, some are neutral, some are fun some are traditional. Again, they’re all beautiful. Just choose your own style and get started!

Neutral living room

One easy way to choose great home paint colors for a room is to search for the most beautiful flower arrangement that you can find. Most likely those colors will perfectly suit your personality. Just choose your room colors to match the arrangement.

But, be careful. I did this once and it cost me $30,000 to remodel the room to match the flower arrangement. But I loved it!

Quiet, calm bedroom

Look at the difference in these two bedrooms. One is neutral with a quiet, calm feeling. The other is rich and vibrant. Which one suits you!

One color has two rules of thought involved. Yellow! Some say it is a cheerful color and should be used in a kitchen. Others say that yellow signifies “caution”, and that it can keep people on-edge. You decide!

I learned to love color while in interior design school. I took a two-year program in order to help you with your remodeling and design questions. Home Paint Colors can make a huge difference in the way your home looks and feels!  Please contact me with any questions. I will look forward to hearing from you.
